About a week ago I wrote my very last exam of my undergrad (#boomdone!). As thrilling as this accomplishment was I don't feel done with school or that I've actually finished my undergrad. Not until I have my diploma in hand will it seem real. Finishing university seems like such a surreal experience because in high school I had doubts about getting accepted, I failed three courses in undergrad and since I took a gap year most of my friends have already graduated. In some ways, it felt as if this day would never come. I also didn't think I would be 7 months pregnant as I wrote my last exams.
You may have just read that title and thought "Courtney what are you talking about? You don't know my husband, all he wants to do is irritate me." Yes, I don't know your specific situation, but I do know that if we change how we perceive our circumstances it can affect our relationships profoundly. My… Continue reading 4 Unexpected Ways Your Husband Wants to Make You Happy
The first time I heard about self-care was from my practicum professor who also happens to be a therapist (class felt like a therapy session because we just talked about our practicums and ate food, it was literally the best.). Our professor knowing that we all lead stressful and busy lives especially as students on the cusp of graduation or grad school really encouraged us to make self-care a priority. She shared how taking a hot yoga class when she's really stressed or spending time with horses helped her maintain a balanced life.
A few weeks ago we were visiting a couple from our church who have a young baby. As we were talking a sad reality came to light. It seems that social connections at church are largely determined by the presence of children or one's marital status.
By nature I am a saver, I don't love spending money and when I have to I want to get the best deal. Most times the best ways to save money include shopping online. Almost from the beginning of my pregnancy, I knew we were having a girl. I was 99% sure, even Michael had an inkling our baby was a girl. We even bought a pink snowsuit on clearance back in February because I was so certain. Now I cannot wait to see our babe in her soft, cuddly snowsuit this winter! ❤ I'm also excited to buy tons of bows! If you know of any good Etsy shops (that ship to Canada) please leave a comment! I just adore baby's in bows.
The early years of marriage tend to receive a negative connotation in the minds of some people. These years are often described as the "hardest" or "difficult". As I have pondered this phenomenon and whether or not is has been true thus far in my life, I came to a few conclusions. Yes, the first year was hard but not in the ways one might expect.
Before I found out I was expecting I could not wait to pregnant. I used to tell my husband that "I would be so happy if I was pregnant!" because I just knew that pregnancy would be amazing like everyone says and plus you get this cute bump to show off. I had no idea how much work it is to be pregnant!
I'm officially feeling pretty normal (finally!). Although I do still get sick some mornings since I have stopped taking Diclectin. However, other than getting sick once or twice a week I have been feeling really good. Exciting things about the second trimester: feeling the baby move! Last week (20 weeks) I was sitting in my… Continue reading Second Trimester Update (21W2D)
We celebrated one year of marriage on Sunday May 7, 2017. I cannot believe how fast the year flew by! I know a lot of times the first year is considered the 'hardest' and in some ways it was not easy but in other ways it was truly one of the best years of my life. I love being married (most of the time (; ), living with my favourite person, having late night pillow talk and just doing life together (who knew grocery shopping could be so fun (; ).
